Customer self-inspection

Customer self-survey link for motor claims (self inspection via WhatsApp)

For smaller motor claims, for example those under ₹50,000, you do not always need to travel for the first set of photos. Send the vehicle owner a link on WhatsApp. They open it in their phone's browser, follow a checklist, and everything lands in your survey, stamped with the date, time and GPS location.

How it works

A self-inspection in four steps

  1. Create the link

In the survey, choose the Motor claim (under ₹50,000) checklist, the language and how long the link stays valid (1, 3 or 7 days). Add a note if you need something specific.

  2. Send it on WhatsApp

One tap opens WhatsApp with the link ready to send. It opens in any phone browser, including straight from WhatsApp.

  3. Owner follows the checklist

Location must be on. Each photo is taken in the page with a hint on where to stand, and is stamped with the date, time and GPS location.

  4. Sign, submit, get notified

The owner signs a declaration with their finger and submits. You get a notification, and the photos and documents appear in the survey.

The photos and papers a small claim needs

Every item has a short hint in English and Hindi. You choose which items to include for each link.

  • Vehicle photos — front, rear, left and right sides, front-left and rear-right corners at 45°, damage close-ups, odometer, chassis number, engine number and a number plate close-up.
  • Documents — RC front and back, the driving licence of the person driving at the time of the accident, the policy (all pages, or the PDF), the claim form if filled, and the repair estimate.
  • Optional — Aadhaar card and a cancelled cheque.

Evidence you can rely on

Stamped photos, a declaration and a record of every step

The page asks for the phone's location before photos can be taken. If GPS is off, it shows the owner how to switch it on for Android or iPhone. Each photo is stamped with the date, time, GPS coordinates, address, vehicle number and the checklist item, in the same way as your own GPS photo stamp camera.

Before submitting, the owner enters their name and signs a declaration with a finger. The name, signature, date, time and device details are saved with the claim, along with a self-survey certificate. You can see each link's status (sent, opened, uploading, submitted, reviewed, expired or cancelled), and uploads resume on their own if the network drops.

Unlimited, free

Self-survey and live video links are included in your plan. There is no per-link charge, so a re-shoot or a missing document is just another link.

Nothing to install

No app and no login for the customer. The page works in Chrome, Safari or the WhatsApp browser.

Private to the claim

The photos, location and signature are used only for that inspection, and stay in your survey.

When to use it

Right for small, clear claims. Not a replacement for inspection.

A self-survey suits small, straightforward own-damage claims where the insurer accepts customer-submitted photos, such as a dented panel or a broken lamp. It is not the right tool for large losses, suspected total loss or cases where the cause of loss needs checking on the spot. Follow the insurer's instructions and inspect physically whenever the case needs it.

When you need to see the vehicle live and guide the person holding the phone, send a live video survey link instead. You capture stamped photos from their camera while you talk them through it.

You stay the surveyor. Review every submitted photo and document before using it in a spot or preliminary report. Uploaded photos can also be checked with the AI damage scan.
Questions

Frequently asked questions

Does the customer need to install an app or log in?

No. The owner opens the link in their phone's browser, including directly from WhatsApp. There is no app and no login.

How long is a self-survey link valid?

You choose 1, 3 or 7 days when you create it (3 days by default). After that the link expires, and you can send a new one at no extra cost.

Why is the location required?

So that every photo carries the GPS coordinates and address of where it was taken. If location is switched off, the page shows the owner how to turn it on and try again.

Which claims suit a customer self-survey?

Small, straightforward claims, for example those under ₹50,000, where the insurer accepts customer-submitted photos. Follow the insurer's instructions and do a physical inspection whenever the case needs it.

Is there a charge per link?

No. Self-survey links and live video survey links are unlimited and included in your DigiSurvey plan.

Can the customer use the page in Hindi?

Yes. You pick English or Hindi when you create the link, and the owner can switch languages on the page.
