How to choose a scrap car buyer

Whether you search for "scrap car buyers near me" or you are a surveyor collecting quotations for a total-loss claim, the questions to ask a buyer are the same. A good buyer is easy to verify, pays what was agreed, and handles the papers so the vehicle cannot come back to haunt the seller.

1. Check that the business is real

Ask for the GST registration or trade licence and visit the yard if you can. On this directory, the verified badge means our team has checked KYC documents and the business address before listing it. It does not replace your own checks for a high-value vehicle.

2. Match the buyer to the vehicle

  • Repairable shells usually fetch more from rebuilders and body shops than from metal scrap buyers.
  • Fire and deep-flood vehicles are often bought for parts or metal, so a used-parts dealer or recycler may quote better.
  • End-of-life vehicles that must not return to the road should go through a Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility, which issues a Certificate of Deposit and gets the registration cancelled.
  • Two-wheelers, tractors and commercial vehicles have specialist buyers; filter the directory by category.

3. Get more than one written offer

For an insurance claim the salvage value on record should be backed by real offers. On the Scrap Market, verified buyers send offers online, and the surveyor who posted the vehicle can compare them side by side before accepting one.

4. Settle the paperwork

Confirm who is selling (the owner or the insurer), complete the transfer forms or the scrapping route, and keep a record of the sale. Our guide to salvage vehicle sale in India lists the documents most often involved, and the salvage and scrappage guide explains CTL, settlement bases and RVSFs.

Why phone numbers are not listed

Buyers' phone numbers, addresses, GST and PAN stay private. When a surveyor accepts an offer, the buyer's contact is shared with that surveyor. If you want to reach a listed buyer about something else, write to help@digitaliiisla.co.in with the business name and we will pass it on.

Frequently asked questions

How are buyers on this directory verified?

Each business submits KYC documents such as a GST certificate, PAN or trade licence along with its address and photos of the shop or yard. The Digitaliiisla admin team checks them before the profile is marked verified and shown here.

Why is the phone number not shown?

Phone numbers stay private to protect buyers from spam. Surveyors who post a vehicle on the Scrap Market receive offers from verified buyers and see the buyer's contact after accepting an offer. Others can ask help@digitaliiisla.co.in to connect them.

Can I sell my accident-damaged car to a buyer listed here?

If the vehicle is part of an insurance claim, the surveyor or insurer handling it decides how the salvage is sold. Surveyors can post it on the Scrap Market so verified buyers can make offers. For other vehicles, write to help@digitaliiisla.co.in with the city and vehicle details.

What is an RVSF?

A Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility is registered with the state authority under the Motor Vehicles (Registration and Functions of Vehicle Scrapping Facility) Rules, 2021. It issues a Certificate of Deposit on receiving a vehicle and a Certificate of Vehicle Scrapping after dismantling it.
